My first son had a dummy from day 3 - and we had to give it to Santa when he was 3 years old. Then my second son comes around - so different from the first!!! He was born big, red, and angry!!!!
We tried to give him a dummy too - but apparently his genetic make up had other plans!!! Young Thomas just LOVES THAT THUMB!!! It's been his temper gauge from a very early age - we have been able to work out if he's scared, if he's in a new place, or even if he's tired - it's his own little security blanket minus the silky felt edge!!
I have had people ask if I'm worried about his teeth because of it - I simply say that no matter what happens I think our boys will have to have braces - both their parents had them!!! And so I keep letting him suck his thumb until he doesn't need it anymore.
I have failed to mention that I was a thumb sucker too - my mum tried all sorts of chemicals to rid me of the habit - pepper, chilli, no bite - none of them worked!!! It was only once I hit age 9 (yes, you see that number correctly!) that she got a cure - outright bribery!!!!!! If I stopped sucking my thumb for 2 weeks, I would get a netball all of my own - and it worked a treat!!! I wonder if Thomas will want a cricket, footy or soccer ball!?!!!
Whatever happens, I still think it's cute!!!!!
